Zi-Wei Wu

Ziwei Wu is a media artist and researcher born in 1996 in Shenzhen, China. She had an outstanding graduate bachelor’s degree from the China Academy of Art, School of Intermedia Art (SIMA), and a Master of Fine Art with distinction in Goldsmiths, the University of London in Computational Arts. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Computational Media and Arts (CMA) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her artworks and research primarily focus on biology, science, and their impact on society, utilizing various media. She engages in interdisciplinary studies of Artificial Life Art, exploring the intersection of art and research with biology as a concept, bio information as data, and biomaterial as a medium.

Dan-Lu Fei

Dan-Lu Fei is a game developer and researcher. She owns a bachelor degree in Computer Science - Computer game from McGill University. She worked as a gameplay programmer intern at several well-known game companies, including Ubisoft, Behaviour Interactive, and Netease. She is pursuing her Ph.D degree in CMA at HKUST. Dan-Lu’s primary research focuses on exploring the potential applications of AI technology in game development. This encompasses the application of AI technology to game agents and AI-based procedural content generation. Simultaneously, Dan-Lu is interested in developing AI games across diverse themes, including artificial life, education, cultural heritage, etc.

Tiancheng LIU, a Ph.D. student at HKUST (GZ), is deeply engaged in the study of Chinese calligraphy computational aesthetics. He successfully served as a data analyst in GF securities and a developer and product manager in cloud computing at the China Telecom Research Institute. His current research interests during his Ph.D. encompass computational aesthetics, generative arts, cultural heritage, and interactive media. The objective of his work is to blend computational methods with cultural heritage and aesthetics to explore the fundamental principles of rational and quantitative aesthetics. Additionally, he aims to find ways to assist the general public in comprehending the aesthetic principles of cultural heritage.

Aven Le Zhou

Aven Le Zhou (b. 1991, Wuhan, China) is an artist and Ph.D. researcher in Computational Media and Arts at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He is the chair of Leonardo LASER talk (Guangzhou), an elected Affiliated Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts since 2022. He has held an assistant professorship in the Design School at Xi’an Jiao-Tong Liverpool University since 2020. Prior to that, he was a Clinical Instructor (2019 - 2020) and Research Fellow (2014 - 2019) at Interactive Media Arts at New York University Shanghai.

Yu-Fan Li

YuFan Li is an interdisciplinary researcher with a mixed backgrounds in engineering, design, data and art. With a research focus as colorful as her hair, she ventures into the study of color harmony, marrying computational aesthetics with empirical psychology. Her academical explorations have contributed to discussions at conferences and journals like IEEE VIS and VINCI. Beyond academia, her artworks have been showed in exhibitions such as the Shanghai Biennale and Deviant Colors in Beijing, reflecting her playful inquiry into the confluence of science and art.

Zhijing SHAO

Zhijing SHAO is a part-time PhD student in the Computational Media and Arts Thrust, HKUST(GZ). He is the co-founder and CTO of Zhuhai Prometheus Vision. He received his MSc in Electronic Engineering from HKUST in 2013. He is an off-campus supervisor of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School. His current work involves Volumetric Video, Photorealistic Avatar, and 3D Gaussian Splatting.

You Wang

New Media Art, Beijing Film Academy Curator
Founder of ‘Youniversal Lab’.
She is a PhD student in Computational Media and Art at HKUST(GZ), having graduated from the Beijing Film Academy with a bachelor’s degree. Her earlier installations and visual works have garnered prestigious accolades such as the IDA Digital Art Award Academy Award Finalist (2006) and the Yokohama New Media Art Video Festival Nomination Award (2006 \2007). In 2020, she clinched the Hyundai Blue Prize China Young Curator Award for her cutting-edge research in space art and distinctive curatorial achievements.
Her research focuses on the translation of cosmic information to explore more avenues for communication between humanity and the universe. This work bridges modern human technology and spirituality through art, providing insights for the development of human technology. The translational methods and theories she has explored intersect with theoretical physics, astronomy, biology, linguistics, cognitive neuroscience, computer science, energy science, and other fields. The artistic forms she presents include technology art, film, art exhibitions, and festivals.

1.The recursion and compensation of subject perception in the sequence of time and space; 2.The companionship of social innovation and public art; 3.The relationship between human individual displacement and information dissemination, and the social & technical problems caused by it.
